Year 10 students from All Saints Catholic school in York have been piloting a new Leadership Course developed by the Archbishop of York’s Youth Trust. The course challenges them to focus their leadership skills on serving and bringing about positive changes in the local community. During last term, the students focused on teamwork, raising money and collecting food for the York Foodbank in Acomb.
Churches across the city, along with The Trussell Trust, set up York Foodbank to provide help to families who are struggling to make ends meet in the current economic crisis. The group collected over a quarter of a ton of food from parents and staff, as well as raising over £700 in cash.
“We were delighted with the enthusiasm and interest the students showed when they visited our Foodbank Centre,” Caleb Ellwood, the Centre Manager said. “We would like to thank everyone for their generosity and time.”
